What is Aquaponics and Why is it essential for Prepping
I hate gardening but new we needed fresh veggies to supplement all the rice and beans and canned goods, so after watching YouTube on Aquaponics I Am A Believer...lol
The end result of even a small Aquaponic set up is a constant supply of fresh food and fish. You don't have to worry what type of soil you have or where you are going. I had a thought for those who don't have a BOL, to build a trailer with an aquaponic system on it ready to go!!! Just a thought!!!

So what is Aquaponics???:
Aquaponics /ˈækwəˈpɒnᵻks/, refers to any system that combines conventional aquaculture (raising aquatic animals such as snails, fish, crayfish or prawns in tanks) with hydroponics (cultivating plants in water) in a symbiotic environment. In normal aquaculture, excretions from the animals being raised can accumulate in the water, increasing toxicity. In an aquaponic system, water from an aquaculture system is fed to a hydroponic system where the by-products are broken down by Nitrifying bacteria into nitrates and nitrites, which are utilized by the plants as nutrients, and the water is then recirculated back to the aquaculture system.
